The trees are really in full color here now. October is just about through. I was thinking about those Halloween parties we kids used to give when we were in school. My brother and his friend and us girls would clean out the old barn, put those red or green bulbs in the light socket. Make dummies up, stuff them with straw. Its kinda of amusing because we would get the ketchup and add those extra details. I can remember putting up red and orange streamers around the ends of the hay loft and getting out the cassette player and Halloween tapes, sometimes it would be the old turntable up in the loft too.
All of it would be topped off with mom's hot cocoa, Buelhers Cider and bakery fresh donuts, chips and french onion dip and candy corn sitting on the tables. Oh yes, couldn't forget the bon-fire, hot dogs and marshmallows. Dressing up in our favorite costumes, riding the hay wagon being pulled by grandpa's AC Tractor . My dad or brother would drive a group to the back of the field. Seems like it went on all night
No wonder we all had stomach aches...how scary that was. It was always draggy the next morning because we had to clean it all up. It was fun none the less, it just doesn't seem like its been that long ago. When the kids were young, it was just a matter of going to The Berlin Township Fire Department. Of course back when we would Trick 'O' Treat, you knew who your neighbors were that you could trust, mainly because we all rode the bus together. When my kids were little, it seemed everyone had their own thing to do.
Hope and Pray you are feeling well and that you are having a good night Schizz. Hope that brought back some memories for you when you were a kid living in Amesbury. Doesn't matter, a small town is a small town , no matter where you are. I am sure it was much sweeter there than it was here. Please take care of yourself, love you so much, check on you tomorrow if not before...Love to you again!!!!!!!!!!!!!
