Little Boy's Fondest Memory, Young Widow's Treasured Story.
I guess it was the summer before my husband's death in December 2006 when he bought an used Chevrolet pickup. It was red , regular cab and regular bed on it.
My late husband Jeff, had bought it to use as a work truck so I could have the little Ford Escort Wagon for the kids in case I needed to go somewhere. It of course was soon traded off for a Ford Windstar Van that my husband barely even got to drive.
It wasn't unusual that Jeff and I took turns dropping off and picking up the children from Elementary School.
Any more my memory fails me once in a while and I guess I choose to forget some of the sad memories of losing Jeff. I was riding with my son,a few days back, who is 16 now and driving himself . I am pretty sure his dad would have been proud how well he is doing. Anyway I started a conversation with my son, even though I don't remember what it was I told him but it was a memory of his late father I shared with him. I asked him if he remembered that old Red Chevy Truck his dad had and he said yes he did and shared this story with me.
Jeff had gone to pick up our son from Central Elementary in Willard, Ohio . Our son enjoyed riding in the truck and the school was just about three blocks from our house on Clark Street. On nice days I would walk the kids to school in the mornings and pick up my daughter at noon, then later on , my daughter and I would walk down to get her brother so it really wasn't far at all. That day I stayed home with our daughter while Jeff went to get our son. My son remembered coming out and missing his dad in the truck parked along the street, so playfully Jeff honked the horn at my son ,walking down the sidewalk, just as he passed the Chevy, enough to see the front of the truck.
My son said "Mom, I can still see him smiling and laughing at me" he chuckled "I really thought that was funny."
I remember Jeff loving to pull little pranks like that and it was so nice to have my son remember his dad like that. I will treasure that story for my lifetime . The kids and I still miss him. Its through memories like that for a brief moment brings him back to spend a little more time with us here on earth, if only in our thoughts.
I hope this brings some encouragement to all of you who may be missing your loved one today! Just think of a happy memory!!

Today, Hope And Pray You Are Doing Well, Please Have A Good And Safe Day SCHIZZ!
This is a different Blog as I have to balance good news with bad news. I found out that my mom's cousin, my second cousin Doris died yesterday. She was my Grandpa Havens brother ( Brook Havens) daughter. We grew up with her and it was her husband that drove the school bus for Olentangy. Doris' husband Ross died in 1988. She was always thoughtful and so nice to us kids. Doris was a beautician for years.
Of course the big news today is that Ohio State won the championship. Honestly I wasn't sure they would beat Oregon ...so glad they did, Congrats to O.S.U! 42 TO 20. It is kinda crazy around Columbus today as you could imagine.
Hope and pray you are having a good morning and the day turns out well for you Stephen, thinking about you. You just be careful when you go home tonight out in this weather...its funny...I looked out the window this morning seeing the snow and thought..it looks like January. Stay warm Hon, I will be thinking about you all day long and tonight...Love you so much, many hugs and kisses today!!!!!

On Here Today...Hi SCHIZZ
We didn't get the ice and snow like they hyped it to be, but it was bad enough to cause problems today. The kids went in two hours later than normal due to the school's delay. My son took the car the morning, I think he enjoys me worrying over him, gosh what a day and of course tonight Ohio State takes on Oregon . Its funny, Kroger had "Roast The Ducks" putting their ducks on sale for 5.99. Of course I don't work for them anymore but can appreciate the "Pun".
Not much for the taste of duck, so I didn't get one.
My daughter and I made it home of course without any trouble. The kids and I had a quiet day at home. I called my mom and she was feeling down because her friend from school died of bone cancer and her cousin Doris fell , broke her arm and isn't doing too well. She is in her nineties. Dad , he's got some kind of flu. With all that is going around it didn't surprise me any.
Quiet today, not doing much but regular household stuff, dogs are helping...lol. Old T, she hanging in there, she is going to turn 19 soon, old kitty. Other than that, that is the most excitement today...which is fine with me because some of the excitement that happens most of the time isn't good.
Hope you are having a good day at the office and everyone is doing good and full of health. I pray that all of them will..I know not all do but, its nice to think of the good things. Wishing your family good health too. This kind of weather sure don't make it easy. I always pray you are doing well , taking care of yourself like you should be and not over doing it too much. So if you are reading this right now..SMILE..your smile brightens up the day and makes you feel good..ok? I know it brightens my day whenever I think of your smile and wonderful eyes! Be careful going home, love you so much Stephen, A BIG HUG AND KISS for your return back home, safe and sound!
