Thank You Delaware County EMA And Delaware County Sherrff Department.

I was able to attend a community meeting for Worthington Arms Manufactured Home Park (Fancy term for Mobile Home).  The kids didn't want to go, so they stayed home while I walked over to the clubhouse where the meeting was at.  There are many elderly folks who live here and it was nice to see them come out.  Unfortunately not many people in general came.  In a park of this size, only about 16 people came, much to the disappointed mangers who came out to speak to us.  A very nice older couple, The Deweeses..
Four speakers came as well, two from The Delaware County EMA and  two from The Delaware Sheriff Department.
The main topic was Severe Weather, Tornado and Other potential disasters .  I loaded myself up on all sorts of information and several Block Watch Signs to post in my car window and to give to my mom and dad.
I signed up again to be Block Watch Captain of the area the kids and I are in.  Things have got better since our trouble making neighbors were evicted.  Beside me are two ladies, one divorced with two boys whom I babysat the youngest a few years back, now going in the 5th grade. The other who is a widowed lady who has been here since the kids and moved here in 2007.
Speeding in here is also a problem, I made sure that when I teach my son driving, he always stops at the front of the park .(A Stop sign is posted but very few stop).  The Sheriff's department had suggested to either place a Patrol car up front to catch those breaking the 10 mph speed limit with a fine up to one hundred ten dollars or a deputy to hand out warnings.  The problem is serious because there are little ones that play out in the street mainly because there isn't anywhere for them to go.  I have noticed many youngsters riding there bikes and some will fall off.  It only takes one time before one of them is hit.  Any more adults get hit and killed almost everywhere.  I hear that almost constantly on the news, in fact yesterday a man in south Columbus was killed crossing U.S 23 going to work.
It was really nice that they came out and talked to us, that really shows their concern.  When I was leaving, the manger thanked me for staying here and showing up.  I was the only one who came from the last block watch meeting as a captain.  Gosh, that was sure nice and meant a lot to me.  I actually made a difference, something I never thought I'd do.  I really want to thank everyone from The EMA and Sheriff Departments, The mangers and all the nice people there.   Worthington Arms is one of the first and oldest Mobile Home Communities in Delaware.  This just makes it the nicest!
